SCIENCE CURRICULUM

New Visions

At AUPE, the Science curriculum is designed to ignite curiosity and critical thinking in students. Our Biology and Earth Science courses are developed using the New Visions Science Curriculum, aligning with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the New York State Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS). Emphasizing inquiry, problem-solving, research, collaboration, and presentations, our curriculum encourages students to engage with the world around them actively, ensuring a dynamic and comprehensive learning experience for our students.

MATH CURRICULUM

Illustrative Math

At the Academy of Urban Planning and Engineering, our Math curriculum is powered by the Illustrative Math program, designed to invigorate math classrooms and empower students with essential skills, understandings, and practices. Aligned with the Common Core Learning Standards for Mathematics and The New York State Next Generation Mathematics Learning Standards, our curriculum encourages students to tackle challenging problems, engage in collaborative thinking, and use their insights to foster and enrich their understanding of mathematical concepts.

THE ENGLISH CURRICULUM

Local Curriculum

The Academy of Urban Planning and Engineering offers a rigorous ELA curriculum developed by top instructors collaborating with local literacy professional organizations, aligning with the Next Generation English Language Arts (ELA) Learning Standards. Our curriculum emphasizes literary analysis and professional writing skills, guiding students to reflect on life’s more profound questions.

SOCIAL STUDIES CURRICULUM

New Visions & Passport

At the Academy of Urban Planning and Engineering, our Social Studies curriculum is based on the New Visions Social Studies Curriculum for Global History and Geography I and II courses and the U.S. History course. Aligned with the New York State K-12 Social Studies Framework’s objectives, our curriculum offers students the opportunity to enhance their literacy skills by fostering critical thinking in reading, writing, and speaking like historians. Additionally, seniors enrolled in the Participation in Government and Economics courses follow the We Teach NY Passport to Social Studies, preparing them for informed citizenship and economic understanding.
